Russian press is startled with the news about the first same-sex marriage that has been registered in St. Petersburg.
Last Friday two local ladies tied the knot. The marriage registration took place without any provocations by the so-called moral crusaders. There were even no members of the mass media in the registry office.
The registration became possible due to the fact that one of the brides is a transgender woman undergoing the sex reassignment process. Thus upon completion it is after all going to be the marriage of a man and a woman.
The year 2013 saw attempts of registering five homosexual couples in one of the Petersburg Marriage Palaces. However, according to the Family Code of the Russian Federation, marriage is the man and woman alliance.
