The well-known Peter’s Mooring restaurant in Rostov-on-Don has burned to the ground. The fire has also destroyed the informal character of Rostov, the famous frigate kept in the restaurant and hotel grounds.
The fire happened in the afternoon on November 16. Firemen managed to localize the fire of the second complexity level only four hours later. They prevented the fire from catching other buildings but the restaurant and the frigate. Fortunately, nobody suffered the fire.
The Peter’s Mooring restaurant was opened on the Left Bank of River Don in 1983. Initially it was made as a vacation spot for the USSR party elite. In the recent years its owner founded one more restaurant, a Cossack ethnographic complex, a spa center and a hotel in the neighbourhood. The frigate was the symbol of the hotel and restaurant complex. According to the owner of Peter’s Mooring, it was a copy of one of the ships of Peter I who used to moor with his fleet here.
