Leviathan by the Russian film director Andrey Zvyagintsev has taken the top prize at the international Camerimage Festival in Poland.
The Gold Frog goes to Leviathan shot by the cameraman Mikhail Krichman, the Silver Frog goes to Lobster by the Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad and the cameraman Ehab Assal, and The Bronze Frog goes to the film Mummy by the Canadian director Xavier Dolan and the cameraman André Tourpin.
The festival was held in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz from November 15 to November 22.
Camerimage is one of the 50 most prestigious festivals in the world. It is meant for film industry figures first of all.
It is a reminder that the world premiere of Leviathan took place in the main competitive program of the 67th Cannes Film Festival, where it got The Best Scenario prize. Moreover, the film has already got some more awards of the European film festivals, in particular the Grand Prize of the Munich Film Festival and the top prize at the film festival in Palich, Serbia.
Leviathan has been nominated from Russia for the Oscar.
The film will go on general release in Russia in February 2015.
