The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance may impose temporary restrictions on exports of plant products from Switzerland to Russia.
The corresponding statement, as RIA Novosti reports, was made after the meeting of the deputy chief of pest surveillance department of the agency Maksim Gninenko with the representatives of the Swiss Embassy. During the meeting it was noted that after the introduction of economic measures by Russia in response to Western sanctions the supplies of plant products from Switzerland increased on average by half, and the supplies of apples grew 400 times. In this regard, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance suspects that not all of those products are actually of Swiss origin.
