The prices on buckwheat in Saint Petersburg rose by 7.2% last week, as “Fontanka.ru” writes, quoting the data of the Saint Petersburg Statistics Service.
The growth for the previous week made up 3.4%. Now 1 kg of buckwheat in the shops of the city costs 56.87 roubles. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, the price on buckwheat in Russia grew on the average by 16.3% over the last week. Earlier it was reported that the price on buckwheat in Samara had risen by 32% that week. It was also reported that the FAS had justified a sharp jump in prices for buckwheat in the Altai Krai. The Financial Times called the process “buckwheat blues”.
