Archeologists have found remains of the most ancient cancer patient on the bank of River Angara.
The international group of scientists includes employee of the Irkutsk State University, Sib.Fm reports.
Traces of cancer tumors were found on the bones that date back to the Bronze Age. This is Eastern Siberia’s most ancient evidence of the fact that primitive people suffered oncology too.
The find is of an immense value, since scientists still dispute concerning the origin of cancer. It is considered by many to be a modern disease caused by technogenic factors. However, the remains show that people had this disease in ancient times as well.
The person found by archeologists died at the age of 35–45 and suffered from lung or prostates cancer, with lesions spread all over the body. Scientists assume that the lung cancer could be provoked by constant inhaling of fire smoke by the early man.
