Dwellers of the Noginsk District of the Moscow Region protest against cutting down of healthy and strong trees.
A huge massive of mature coniferous forest in the Lagoon residential district is prepared to be annihilated in order to construct houses in its place. According to locals, it happens upon sufferance of administration of the urban township Staraya Kupavna and village Novaya Kupavna, which Lagoon is a territorial part of. The Novye Izvestiya newspaper reports about it.
A few years ago this wood was transferred to the category of lands that subject to housing development. The respective document was signed by Boris Gromov, the ex-governor of the Moscow Region in October, 2010. The administration emphasized that only sanitarian cutting down would take place in the residential district, and none of the healthy wood will be touched. However, workers have appeared there recently and started fencing off the area.
According to the locals’ estimates, 470 healthy and strong trees have turned to be in the fenced area, with 135 of them growing in the future parking lot.
