The Museum of Felt Boots with an interactive program will open in Vologodsky District of Vologda Oblast, as the Regional Tourist and Information Centre (TIC) reports. The museum will be part of the exhibition of the Spasskoe-Kurkino Estate located at a 20 km distance from the regional centre.
The project leader Nikolai Saikin will be engaged in manufacturing of this traditional boots himself. According to the TIC, an agricultural firm has been operating in the Spasskoe- Kurkino Estate - the architectural ensemble of XVIII-XIX centuries - for the last few years. After its bankruptcy the estate is being restored by volunteers, local residents and patrons. In addition to the Museum of Felt Boots, the Estate will have the museum of its own that will tell of the life of the Russian nobility, as well as a puppet theatre and folk crafts workshops.
