The announcement of the campaign in support of Navalny has been blocked on Russian Facebook.

The Facebook community with the announcement of the campaign in support of Aleksey Navalny became unavailable on Saturday evening on December 20.

As the event organizer Leonid Volkov wrote on Twitter, the page cannot be seen only on the territory of Russia. The press secretary of the Federal Supervision Agency for Information Technologies and Communications Vadim Ampelonsky later explained to “Dozhd” that the community was blocked at the request of the Prosecutor General. At the time of blocking about 12 thousand people expressed readiness to take part in the campaign. It was not specified if an official application for the event would be submitted.

On the fifteenth of January the court will announce the verdict on the “Yves Rocher” case with Aleksey Navalny and his brother Oleg as defendants. The prosecutor claims to sentence Aleksey Navalny to ten years and Oleg - to eight years. The law allowing The Prosecutor's Office to block web sites without a court order has become effective from February1. A web site can be blocked for appeals to riots, incitement of ethnic and sectarian discord, participation in illegal mass public events, as well as to extremism and terrorism.
