Historical Finds from Emersed Island near Cherepovets Displayed

An exhibition of archeological finds of the year 2014 has been opened in Cherepovets.

      Some of them were earlier unknown to local archeologists. The exhibits were found on the island, which emersed near Cherepovets due to low water level.

      “Interesting finds. Armament items. The medieval soldier’s horse stirrup was found for the first time. A penner - the writing tool — was the first explicit find. The objects that characterize early stages of the 10th century settlement are beads and metal wares” — Alexander Kudryashov, the head of the Cherepovets Archeology Museum said.

      The exhibition also presents the things found in two Stone Age sites in Belozersk District.
