The animated film director Gennady Sokolsky, aged 78, died in Moscow on Sunday.
Gennady Sokolsky directed the very first series of the legendary animation Just You Wait! Besides, he took part in creating a range of popular Soviet children’s animated films, such as Merry Roundabout, Adventures of Lolo the Penguin, Taree the Birdie, Silver Hoof, Ivashka from the Pioneers’ Palace, and The Little Sorcerer.
In the mid-1990s Gennady Sokolsky practically stopped animation work and gave preference to book illustration. In the last years of his life the film director was severely ill.
The farewell ceremony will take place in the Botkin Hospital on December 30.
