Fragment of Lost American Film Found in Russia

It is always a big event for the State Film Fund of RF to decrypt the mark “unknown” on a film box.

This time the fund staff has identified a film of 1921, which was considered to be lost. It is a silent film under the title Sea Shore Outline made in the USA. It turned possible to establish its exact name as well as the names of actors featured in it. By the way, one of the performers still lives in America; she is 96 years old now. It is the only copy of the film in the world.

“The film has not been preserved anywhere, and this is just a fragment but not a complete film. That is all there is” – the senior curator of the State Film Fund research projects Peter Bagrov said.

The archive of the State Film Fund of RF harbors lots of secrets. Any find classified as “unknown” might turn to be a world cinema masterpiece.
