Silver jewelry of the Tatar-Mongol invasion era was found in the course of restoration of the Tver Museum.
Archaeologists found the trove right under the floor of the Director General’s office.
The treasure was kept in a small pit in the cultural layer at the depth of two meters and was covered with a small ceramic vessel, the official report of the Archaeology Institute, RAS states.
It is the first treasure found in the city of Tver over the last 100 years. Reliable troves were found before the revolution of 1917. After restoration works the treasure will be deposited in the Tver State United Museum.
