The authorities of Sochi asked the citizens not to have rest in the mountain cluster during the Christmas holidays. The Mayor’s Office of the resort explained that the demand for the Sochi ski resorts breaks all records, and an increased inflow of tourists to the territory of the mountain cluster is expected during the Christmas holidays. In order to avoid the negative consequences associated with safety on the slopes, the tourists who are not staying in resort hotels are asked to move their vacations in the mountains to another time.
“Ski season will last for about three months. Immediately after the New Year’s holidays everyone who wishes will be able to purchase ski passes and choose the time to visit ski resorts in their sole discretion. Starting from January 12, ski passes will be freely available for purchase at a lower price” - the Acting Head of the Resort Business and Tourism of the Administration of Sochi Sergei Domorat stated. All rooms in Sochi hotels for New Year’s and Christmas holidays are booked.
Due to the expected influx of tourists the ski complexes of Krasnaya Polyana in Sochi have already raised prices on ski passes for the period of New Year’s holidays by an average of 30-40%.
