December 31 May Become An Official Holiday
(Source: http://izogiz.ru/god/1970/31_dekabrya)

The Public Chamber of the Russian Federation proposes to make December 31 an official holiday.

The authors of the idea think that the majority of citizens do nothing at work on New Year’s eve, so there’s no sense in going to the office or to the factory.

The State Duma is not opposed to the proposal of the Public Chamber, but they believe that then it is necessary to take away one day of New Year’s holidays. Anyway, the relevant bill will be prepared and reviewed only in the next year.
