Great Russian mezzo-soprano Elena Obraztsova died on Monday at the age of 75 in Germany. Representatives of Obraztsova’s charitable fund comment that she was undergoing medical treatment there.
Elena Obraztsova passed away because of cardiac standstill. Last respects will be paid to the legendary opera singer in the Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow on January 14. Funeral will be held on January 15.
Elena Obraztsova was widely recognised as one of the greatest opera singers of all time. Her concert repertoire includes works by more than 100 composers of the XVIII-XX centuries: Opera, Chamber and Church music, cantatas and oratorios, Russian folk songs, classic operetta, etc.
Her charitable fund supporting music art will continue its work.
