The police officer Sergey Machulin took a teenager away from a loose ice floe in Vilyuchinsk town in Kamchatka.
The 17-year-old schoolboy escaped unharmed.
A local dweller of Vilyuchinsk called the police around 5 pm yesterday. She informed about a child on a drifting ice floe near the pier in Krasheninnikov Bay. Patrol and inspection squads and private security started off to the scene.
The police staff sergeant Sergey Machulin was one of the crew. He is into sports and a skilled diver. He got into a rubber boat to reach the boy fast and took him from the breakaway ice floe to the coast.
Sergey Machulin is already experienced in rescuing people: he saved a 14-year-old schoolboy from another ice floe in March, 2014. The situation was similar.
Thanks to vigilance of the townswoman and decisive actions of the police officer the teenager had a hairbreadth escape. Now he is out of harm’s way.
