The project “Noah's Ark” for formation of a depositary for storage of biomaterials will be created in the scientific and technological valley of the Moscow State University named after Lomonosov.
This was reported on Thursday by TASS referring to the rector of the university Victor Sadovnichy.
The project cost makes up one billion roubles. The depositary “Noah's Ark” will be a database of all biological envelope on the Earth, including, according to the rector, both “extinct and abundant species”.
“There will be opportunities for cryo-storage of different cell materials which may be reproduced later” – Sadovnichy stated. The depositary will also dispose of computerized systems combined with other data in Russia and abroad. As Sadovnichy stated, the university was allocated the largest grant of the Russian Science Foundation. The scientific and technological valley at the University can be built by 2018 and will occupy nearly 430 thousand square meters.
