The past year was abnormally warm in the most part of the territory of Russia, according to the website of the Hydrometeorological Centre.
2014 was the second warmest year in the northern hemisphere during the entire history of regular meteorological observations since 1891.
“The year 2014 was abnormally warm or close to normal across the whole area of the hemisphere” - the message notes. At the same time a new absolute maximum of mean annual air temperature has been set in Europe in 2014. The average year temperature in Russia repeated the previous year’s value accurate within 0.1 degrees.
“The year 2014 was abnormally warm in the most part of the territory of Russia, and average annual temperature was close to normal only in the Urals, Privolzhsky and in the western part of Siberian federal districts, and there are no areas with negative abnormalities at all” – the representatives of the Hydrometeorological Centre stressed. The past year was also one of the warmest ones in Moscow. Its average temperature is the fourth in the ordered series after the values of 2008, 2007 and 1989.
“Alongside with very warm March, May and August, an abnormally cold October was observed in the capital, while January, June and November were close to normal” - the meteorological forecaster noted.
