Age limit for scientists has been introduced in Russia.
The law on mandatory competition among scientific workers before their recruitment came into force in Russia. The list of positions to be filled by competition and its procedure will be determined by the Ministry of Education with the approval of the Ministry of Labor, as TASS reports.
The document also introduces the age limit for directors of scientific organizations. According to the text of the law, a position of a Head or his/her deputy may be held by citizens not older than 65 years. The contract extension is possible until they reach 70 years. These innovations will not affect those who have signed a contract before and have reached that age. They will be able to work until the end of the contract, but no longer than three years after the law comes into force. The law also introduces a certification for teachers related to the higher-education teaching personnel upon the conclusion of an indefinite-term contract. It is proposed to conduct certification once every five years.
