Valery Karpin is tipped to become the head coach of a football club from Spain’s Primera, says Championat.com.
Karpin is now the manager of Mallorca, ranked 10th in Segunda after 27 rounds.
Valery Karpin moved to Spain in August 2014 after he had been fired from Spartak Moscow.
After several seasons in Moscow, the long-standing coach was fired after two losses in matches against Terek Grozny in the Premier League and Tosno Leningrad Region, a club from the second division, in the Russian Cup.
Coming sixth in the previous season of the Russian Premier League, Spartak Moscow has now ambitious goals to get back into the top three and the European club tournaments, dreams buoyed up by the signing of Roman Shirokov from Zenit and a newly built stadium, Otkritie Arena.
The team’s owner, Leonid Fedun, complained the title was floating away despite the fact that Karpin had all he had wanted.
Murat Yakin replaced Karpin as the new coach.
