On January 28, Moscow court forbidden the 'Progress Party' headed by Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny to take part in any elections, the party's lawyer Dmitry Krainev said in his Twitter.
The 'Progress Party' demanded from Russia's Department of Justice to be included to the list of parties allowed to take part in the elections. The party's lawyers said it has all rights to be elected as all the necessary documents for it have been sent to the Department of Justice in time.
However, the court rejected those arguments and dismissed the action. "From 75 registered parties we have become the only one to be pushed aside from the elections", Krainev said.
Earlier the Department of Justice have already refused to allow the 'Progress Party' for the electoral process, saying that registration of the party's regional departments had been taking place for over six months, which is forbidden by the law. Krainev admitted that the part of regional departments whad been indeed registered after six-month term, as they were hit by many lawsuits. This notwithstanding, the party complied with all the necessary conditions after all, but still wasn't included to the list of parties admitted for elections.
