The famous Russian film director and the State Duma CPRF deputy Vladimir Bortko complains about private censorship in Russian film industry.
Vladimir Bortko has informed that his new film Soul of the Spy has been kept away from distribution due to censorship for about a year. This film was watched by lots of major political figures, who did not find anything dangerous in it.
According to Vladimir Bortko, the film scenario was co-authored by a secret-service agent. “However, the film producers — the 2B2 Petersburg company, Trite Studio of Nikita Mikhalkov and Russia TV channel have already removed their titles from the movie” — the film director pointed out.
The film with the budget of more than 10 million dollars stars Fyodor Bondarchuk, Marina Alexandrova, Daniil Spivakovsky, Malcolm McDowell, and Glenn Webster. The Soul of Spy depicts life of a Russian spy working in London.
The most significant works by Vlaimir Bortko are the films Heart of a Dog, Afghan Fracture, and the TV series Idiot and Master and Margarita.
