9000-Year Old Knife Found by Archeologist at Verkhny Lake

The archeologist Vladimir Hukharev, the native of Kirov of the Kaluga Region has found an artifact, which is at least 9 thousand years old.

The ancient knife was found on the bank of the Verkhny Lake.

According to him, it is a combined tool (scraper & saw & knife) with well noticeable traces of teamwork. However, it is too early to say that people reclaimed the area of the town of Kirov in the Mesolithic.

“Our find gives ground for a hypothesis only so far. The single find of one tool is just the beginning of work. The found tool could quite as well be brought here with soil. For more detailed conclusions we need special archaeological studies of this location and analysis by professional experts...” – the archeologist said.
