The Court extended the arrest for Nadezhda Savchenko for three months.
The Moscow Court granted a petition of the Investigative Committee on extension of the arrest of the former Ukrainian soldier Nadezhda Savchenko until May 13 on Tuesday, February 10. Savchenko is suspected of involvement in the murder of Russian journalists and illegal crossing of the Russian border. The lawyer of Nadezhda Savchenko Mark Feigin asked to change the measure of restraint for his client to house arrest.
According to him, an apartment will be provided to her by the Ukrainian embassy. The documents on this issue were transferred by Feigin to the Court. The deputy of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the party “Batkivshchina” Nadezhda Savchenko who previously served in the Ukrainian volunteer battalion “Aydar” was detained by theRussian law enforcement authorities with suspicion of involvement in the murder of Russian journalists Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin in Lugansk. According to investigation, they were killed on a tip of Savchenko who was later detained at the Russian border where she went under the disguise of a refugee
. The pilot herself denies any fault on her side. She and her lawyers claim that she was kidnapped in Lugansk region and taken to Russia. It is reported that Savchenko announced hunger strike on December 13, 2014 and have already been holding it for nearly two months.
