Wondrous Birds and Graceful Cats of Daniel Giraud Elliot

State Darwin Museum has opened the exhibition Daniel Giraud Elliot’s World of Wondrous Birds and Graceful Cats.

The exhibition is timed to the 180th anniversary since the birth of the American zoologist and artist Daniel Giraud Elliot.

It presents magnificent illustrations from rare editions of the 19th century. The colourful and precise animal pictures bring the viewers into the world of wondrous birds and graceful cats …

To convey the beauty of animals at its best, Daniel Giraud Elliot involved famous animalists of the 19th in work on the monographs. Stunning illustrations depict animals in their natural environment: in their nests, at watering sites, with their offsprings and while hunting.

The exhibition runs till April 29.
