A modern exposition “Vilegodsky Flax” will open on Viled, according to RussiaTourism.ru.

      The project received a grant from the Governor of Arkhangelsk Oblast in the sphere of culture and art. In 2015 more than 20 applications from public and nonprofit organizations of the region have been received for the competition. In their assessment special attention was paid to the projects aimed at preservation of culture and customs, development of national crafts, creation of new cultural spaces. One of the winners was the project “Vilegodsky Flax”.

      The project “Vilegodsky Flax” is aimed at the preservation of the cultural heritage of Arkhangelsk Oblast through the study of history of Vilegodsky flax cultivation and restoration of all stages of manual processing of flax. High-quality flax has been grown on Viled since the beginning of time, it had worldwide fame. The image of flax flowers has found its rightful place on the coat of arms and the flag of Vilegodsky District.
