The famous Russian Museum in St. Petersburg) marks Valentin Serov's anniversary with an exhibition of his non-portrait works.
It is known that the artist, who gained fame with his brilliant technique of psychological portrait, actually never considered himself to be a portraitist and preferred a more honorary title of a painter.
The exhibition is titled Valentin Serov is Not a Portraitist.
The visitors will see unknown landscapes by Valentin Serov. Among the things displayed for the first time are theatrical sketches and illustrations to books by Alexander Pushkin, Mikhail Lermontov, and Ivan Krylov.
The exhibition runs till June 8, 2015.
