The German Adidas will close about 200 stores in Russia this year, according to TASS referring to the Head of the Company’s Division of Media Relations Nikolai Petrosyan. “Adidas really plans to close about 200 stores, but at the same time the company plans to open about 100 new stores in the Russian Federation” - he said. The company representative explained that the activity will be terminated in the retail outlets that “did not meet objectives of revenue and visitors traffic”.
As the statements of Adidas said, the German industrial group plans to close a total of 290 stores worldwide in 2015. The company explains the reduction of retail outlets in Russia by the rouble devaluation (Adidas estimates its losses at $ 550 million).
