The first tourist “train of weekend” will depart from Yekaterinburg to Kazan on May 8.

As the Press Secretary of the State Committee for Tourism of Tatarstan Anastasia Plotnikova told, such trains were first tested during the Summer Universiade of 2013 and connected the then-capital of Tatarstan with Moscow, Samara and Ulyanovsk. “The program is implemented by the tour operator “Russian Railways Tour” for the purpose of increasing domestic tourist flow between the regions of the Russian Federation. We expect 200 to 500 people per trip” - Plotnikova noted. According to her, the guests of Kazan tourism programs will be offered, in particular, walking tours of the city with a visit to the cathedral mosque “Kul-Sharif”. Tourists will also be able to see the “Kazan Arbat” or Raifa Monastery – the architectural complex of ÕVII-ÕIÕ centuries where the miraculous icon of Our Lady of Georgia is being kept.
