Real Wages Fell Down

Real wages (adjusted for the growth of prices and tariffs) fell by 9.9 percent in Russia in February 2015, as compared with the same month of last year.

      It has increased by 5.2 percent and reached 30,620 roubles in nominal terms. The corresponding information is contained the report of the Russian Federal State Statistics Service on the socio-economic situation. The number of unemployed has increased by 243 thousand – up to 4.41 million - in the last month. This is 5.8 percent of the economically active population (75.8 million people).

      Let’s compare: unemployment made up 5.5 percent in January 2015, 5.3 percent in December 2014. The Statistics Service also reports that inflation rose by 2.2 percent in February, as compared with January. During the year the price on sugar has increased by 67.1 percent, cereals - by 51.5 percent, fruits and vegetables - by 43.5 percent, fish - by 30.8 percent. In addition, the cost of cigarettes grew by 28.5 percent, home appliances – by 26.7 percent, medicines – by 24.9 percent.
