Tomsk Paleontologists to Restore Skeleton of Sauropod

Scientists of Tomsk State University are restoring the skeleton of a large herbivorous dinosaur.

The sauropod skeleton was found in the Kemerovo Region and it took several years to unearth the remains.

In 2008 the Tomsk expedition found the dinosaur on the right bank of River Kia near the Shestakovo Village in the Kemerovo Region. The find dates back to the Late Cretaceous and so is about 100 million years old. It is the first sauropod find registered in the territory of Russia. The found animal was very large. The biggest sauropods were up to 30-40 meters long.
