In 2014 Russia proved to be able to provide itself with fruits and berries with an amount less than a third of the planned indicators.

The relevant data are contained in the materials of the Ministry of Agriculture on the preparations for the spring field works in the North Caucasus Federal District, as RIA Novosti reported. “In order to supply the population with domestic fruits and berries in an amount equal to a suggested medicine standard (75 kilograms of fresh fruits and berries per person per year, excluding grapes), it is necessary to produce 10.7-11 million tons of fruits and berries” - the documents say.

At that, in last year 2.98 million tons of fruits and berries were harvested in Russia. Earlier the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev ordered to allocate 36 billion roubles from the budget for the support of agriculture. Besides, the anti-crisis plan of the government provides assistance to agriculture in the volume of 50 billion roubles in 2015.
