The events within the framework of the special project “The Forest of Victory” will be held in the Republic of Mari El. According to the project, it is planned to plant 27 million trees on the territory of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation - by the number of victims of the Great Patriotic War, our compatriots.

The initiator of the event dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War is the all-Russian public ecological movement “Green Russia”. Thousands of trees, mainly of pine species, as well as apples, pears and shrubs will be planted in the forests of the republic in this special year in honor of veterans of the Great Patriotic War living in Mari El – the soldiers who fought for their country - and also in honor of homefront workers who contributed to the victory.

The implementation of the project “The Forest of Victory” will run until October 2015. During this time it is planned to plant more than 500,000 seedlings and saplings on the territories of all forest areas of Mari El. The total area of filling-up will exceed 100 hectares.
