The number of unemployed in Russia exceeded one million. This was reported by the Head of the Ministry of Labor Maksim Topilin, according to RIA “Novosti”.

      “One million and 145 people. This is a slight growth, but we exceeded one million and certainly are not happy with this” - the agency quotes the official’s words.

      On March 18 the Deputy Minister of Labor Sergey Velmyaikin told that 127 thousand people have lost their jobs since the beginning of the year. According to him, they all received due compensation. The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Labor also said that more 219,000 people are now under the threat of down-sizing. At that, the number of vacancies at the labor market reaches 1.1 million. “At some point these curves will finally come together - the unemployment rate will be equal to the number of the offered vacancies, then we will have a more difficult situation” - he warned.
