The representatives of the USA will attend the Victory Day Parade which will be held on May 9 in Moscow, as TASS reported on Tuesday, April 7, citing the words of the Acting Head of the press service of the State Department Marie Harf.
“We have not yet decided about our participation” – she said, however, she expressed confidence that “somebody will come”. Earlier it was reported that the US President Barack Obama would not come to participate in the festivities in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War because of his busy schedule.
In April the Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Sergei Ivanov stated that 25 world leaders have already confirmed their presence at the Victory Day Parade. Many Western leaders refused from visiting the Victory Parade. These include the British Prime Minister David Cameron and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel. As it was reported, she is to visit Moscow on May 10 in order to lay wreaths to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin wall together with the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
