Pupils of the Laboratory for Gifted Children at the Moscow Gaidar Library have become winners of the New Pushkin Award.
Besides, the artist Konstantin Sutyagin with his literary and art cycle About Happiness has been awarded the special diploma For Harmony of Word and Image.
The winners are traditionally selected by the award council headed by the famous Russian writer Andrey Bitov.
For the first time in the history of the New Pushkin Award it goes to children. The winners are 7 to 12 year-old children, members of a studio headed by Lev Yakovlev at the Laboratory. They will be guests of the Alexander Pushkin State Memorial Estate Mikhaylovskoye this summer.
According to the organizers, such a decision was taken on the occasion of the Year of Literature. The award council decided to attract attention to children's literature in such a way.
