“Aptekarsky Ogorod” (“Apothecary’s Garden”) celebrates the 210th anniversary of the purchase of the garden of Lomonosov MSU on April 13, as the agency of urban news “Moskva” reported.

On this day the emperor Alexander I personally signed the petition of the Minister of Education on granting 11 thousand roubles of public money in silver coins for purchase of a garden for the university.

“Aptekarsky Ogorod” is the oldest botanical garden in Russia. It was founded in 1706 by the decree of Peter I on the northern outskirts of Moscow for cultivation of medicinal plants.
