Alexander Barshak to Make Film about Events in Ukraine and the Crimea

According to the scriptwriter Sergey Shargunov, the film will be “about people and internal split within society rather than about politics”.

      The film producer Anatoly Sivushov has presented the film project The Sea is Rough on the recent events in Ukraine and the Crimea. “We needed a very subtle film director since the subject is dangerous”, - he said at the presentation of films aspiring to be financed by the Federal Fund for Social and Economic Support of National Cinematography. As a result the 37-year-old film director Alexander Barshak famous for his works 12 Months, A Happy Journey, A Fairy Tale. Is has been selected.

      As for the soundtrack, negotiations are conducted with Goran Bregovich.

      The Events in Ukraine, in Maidan, and the Crimea will be shown in the movie.

      The main characters of the film are two brothers with opposite views. “One of them goes to Maidan and returns as a totally different person and the brothers meet in the middle of the Crimean events. Despite the disagreements, they remain near and dear and thus love rules”, - Sergey Shargunov told.

      However, the final remains unknown. “There are different options of the final, since we are in this historical process still”, - Mr. Sivushov explained.
