Timur Bekmambetovs Horror Film Paid Off 25 Times

The experimental horror film Unfriended created by Timur Bekmambetov and Leo Gabriadze has made over $ 25 million in the American distribution.

Thus, the film has paid 25 times for itself. It’s a new genre of screen capture movie with the action taking place in the computer screen only. Timur Bekmambetov, who produced the movie, said that nobody trusted this invention in the beginning as it is hard to believe that viewers’ attention can be kept for more than 10 minutes in such a case.

Timur Bekmambetov got the film idea from his personal experience of communication on Skype. According to the film director Leo Gabriadze, the Internet is one of basic communication channels and it was a must for him to real MacBook desktop interface and real Gmail, Facebook and Skype accounts.

The story tells about school friends terrorized by a hacker nicknamed Billy227 who got access to their private correspondence. The stranger wants to know who posted a video with their schoolmate girl that committed suicide afterwards.
