On April 21, at the State Duma of Astrakhan took place a meeting of the Chairman of the regional parliament Alexander Klykanov and his deputy Irina Rodnenkova with the organizers and participants of the project “Caspian Fashion Week”.
During the meeting, participants discussed urgent issues of development of textile industry, import substitution and promotion of domestic brands in the global market.
Chairman of the regional parliament Alexander Klykanov emphasized that the fashion industry in the region currently survives on private investments, but the current system should be changed.
Irina Rodnenkova expressed confidence that the Caspian Fashion Week will be able to show the citizens of Astrakhan that even with average incomes one can look stylish and modern.
The participants also discussed a number of constraints on development of light industry in Astrakhan: lack of professional staff, unavailability of credit resources, problems with raw materials and high-quality domestic fabrics. Klykanov suggested designers to place their orders at small businesses, and develop a mass-market line of clothing and footwear together with manufacturers.
On April 22 full-fledged shows began. In the early days of the “Caspian Fashion Week” there were presented collections by designers from Germany, Armenia, Yekaterinburg, Izhevsk, Astrakhan, Rostov-on-Don, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan. Total program of the Caspian fashion week announced around 30 fashion shows of men’s, women’s, and children’s collections.
In addition, guests of Caspian fashion week have an opportunity to buy their favourite products in showrooms at the territory of the event.
Astrakhan Fashion Week will last until April 27.
