Short-length film Conversation by the Russian director Anastasia Novikova has won the jury’s special prize at DocumentaMadrid. The international documentary film festival is coming to an end in the capital city of Spain.
The Conversation narrates about the life of Valentin Stepanovich, the last inhabitant of an abandoned settlement in the Leningrad Region. Every day he sits near the phone waiting for a call from his wife, who was taken to hospital.
The first place of DocumentaMadrid 2015 has been awarded to the film Tell Spring Not to Come This Year directed by Said Tadji Faruki and Michael McAvoy from Britain. The full-length film shows the war in Afghanistan as experienced by Afghan soldiers. Man Lives for the Better by the Danish director Hanna Pollack has taken the 2nd prize. It took 13 years to make the film about dwellers of a dump located just 20 kilometers away from Moscow.
The best short-length film is The Enemy by the Cuban director Aldemar Mathias.
