Mariinsky Theater Dedicated Concert to 70th Anniversary of Victory

Veterans of the Great Patriotic War were greeted and commemorated with an open-air concert at Poklonnaya Gora in Moscow.

The Mariinsky Theater symphonic orchestra under conductorship by Valery Gergiev and the pianist Denis Matsuyev performed music compositions by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.

150 thousand people came to the war memorial of Poklonnaya Gora to listen to the concert. Special pit stalls and amphitheater were constructed for the audience.

“I congratulate you on this great holiday! Thank you so much for having preserved the country, and the music” — Mr. Gergiev said.

Denis Matsuyev pointed out that the concert on the Victory Day was especially meaningful to him since it gave a chance to meet the veterans, whom he hero-worships.
