Area of Forest Fires in Siberia Reduced by One Third in One Day

46 forest fires on the area of 31.8 thousand hectares have been extinguished in Siberia.


      The area of forest fires in the territory of the Siberian Federal District has been reduced by 35 percent to 66.5 thousand hectares in a day and night, the Siberian forestry department reports today.


      31 forest fires were still on in the SFD this morning. Most of them are in the Zabaikalye Territory (19 fire fronts on the area of 54.3 thousand hectares) and Buryatia (9.9 thousand hectares). One fire on the area of 2.1 thousand hectares was registered in the Irkutsk Region, and 4 fires on the area of 225 hectares were reported in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.


      3550 forest fires on the area of over 1 million hectares have been registered altogether in the Siberian Federal District since the beginning of the fire season of 2015.


      Special fire prevention regime acts all over the Altai Republic, the Kemerovo Region and the Irkutsk Region, Altai Territory, in 13 districts of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, and 3 districts of the Tomsk Region. The emergency mode is on all over the Zabaikalye Territory, the Tyva Republic and Khakassia, in 19 districts of the Republic of Buryatia, and one district of the Krasnoyarsk Krai.
