The 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition is opening in the Big Hall of the Moscow Conservatory today.
The jubilee competition is dedicated to the 175th anniversary since the birth of the great composer. Tchaikovsky Competition is the most famous music competition in the world.
P. I. Tchaikovsky Big Symphonic Orchestra under conductorship by Vladimir Fedoseyev, the winner of the 14th P. I. Tchaikovsky Competition - pianist Daniil Trifonov, the soloist of the Mariinsky Theater and the judge of the 15th P. I. Tchaikovsky Competition Olga Borodina will perform at the opening ceremony.
The opening concert will be broadcast online on the official site of the competition.
Competition of pianists will be on in the Big Hall of the Conservatory from June 16. Violinists will start competing in the Small Hall on June 17. Cellists and vocalists will compete in St. Petersburg.
The award ceremony will take place in the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow on July 1. The first gala concert of the winners will be held in the Big Hall of Moscow Conservatory on July 2. The second gala concert and the Grand Prix ceremony are expected in the Mariinsky Theatre 2 in St. Petersburg on July 3.
