Lying in repose of the Russian singer Zhanna Friske, who died on Monday evening, is taking place in Moscow.

      

      Thousands of people have come to bid farewell to their favourite actress and singer.

      

      The coffin with her body is being exposed in the concert Crocus City Hall. The ceremony was started at 2 pm; however a long line of fans waited at the hall doors long before that.

      

      People bring flowers and some of them cannot hold back tears. Zhanna’s family and friends stand near the coffin. The singer’s music videos are demonstrated mute on the screen next to it.  

      

      Zhanna Friske died of an inoperable brain tumor at the age of 40. The singer struggled with cancer for two years, and the treatment seemed to yield some positive results. However, several months ago the actress’ condition started worsening: she went nearly blind and then slipped into a coma.

      

      Zhanna’s parents, sister and close friends were with her in the last minutes of her life. Her spouse Dmitry Shepelev was in Bulgaria, where he took their 2-year-old son Platon to prevent him from seeing Zhanna’s suffering.

      

      Zhanna Friske will be laid to rest in Nicholas Archangel Cemetery in the Moscow area on Thursday.
