Italy opens up to Russian tourists as Italian Eurofly S.p.A. air company launches direct flights from Moscow to Naples.
The step is aimed to offer more options and benefits for the growing number of Russian tourists visiting Italy. Last November a website Travel.km.ru conducted a poll probing Russian interest in foreign countries. The results indicated 22% of Russians were eager to learn more about Italy, a figure higher than that of Egypt. There are five charter flights scheduled now ahead of the tourist season whereas last summer operators started with just two. Italy is enticing even for tourists from regions like Yekaterinburg.
The Apennines will become closer from April 29, 2006. New flights will depart from Moscow`s Domodedovo Airport to land at Naples and, in near future, to Katania, in 4 hours` time.
Eurofly S.p.A flight from Russia will be done on A320 aircraft, capable of carrying up to 180 passengers, with 16 seats for `economy plus` class. The air company expects to cover 70% of its capacities.
If so, Eurofly S.p.A will become 17th in the list of Domodedovo air operators and 140th in the list of destinations.
Eurofly S.p.A company was set up in 1989 and operated as a subsidiary of Alitalia Group until September 2003 to be taken over by Spinnaker Luxembourg in July 2004. The company operates three long-range À330-200, eight mid-range À320 and one long-range À319ÀÑJ capable of carrying 48 business-class passengers. Eurofly S.p.A, is listed at Milan Stock Exchange and leads in the Italian market of operators catering to holidaymakers.
