Boris Eifman's Theater Challenged Stereotype about Russian Ballet

The Ballet Theater of Boris Eifman has finished its "historical" two–month tour across Canada and the USA.

The tour lasted from the middle of April till the middle of June. The troupe crossed North America from the east to the west, from Montreal to Los Angeles. In Montreal and Toronto it performed the famous ballet Anna Karenina. The audience of Minneapolis, Boston, Washington and Los Angeles saw the ballet Rodin. Chicago, Costa-Meza and New York saw the theater’s premiere of the year Up&Down. In all the cities it was full house and rapturous welcome of public.

Boris Eifman’s modern psychological ballet art has got numerous accolades of critics. Up&Down recreating atmosphere of the jazz era attracted special attention of the transatlantic press. "The Ballet Theater of Boris Eifman discovers new depth in modern ballet — the Archaic Press Magazine writes. — Twisting classical technique into something unimaginably complicated in its ingenuity, the performance Up&Down scolds to a shiver both the audience, and the troupe. It is a must see!"

According to Boris Eifman, his theater showed to the audience of Canada and the USA that the ballet in modern Russia is not only classical masterpieces, but also actual art created here and now. In addition to that he emphasized the diplomatic importance of theatre tours.
