Winners of the 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition held in Moscow and St. Petersburg from June 15 to July 3 have been awarded.
Dmitry Masleyev from Russia takes the first award among pianists. The second award goes to the 19-year-old pianist George Li from the USA and Lukas Genushas from Russia. 16-year-old Daniil Kharitonov and 24-year-old Sergey Redkin from St. Petersburg share the third award.
The best vocalists are Russian mezzo-soprano Yulia Matochkina and Mongolian baritone Ganbaatar Ariunbaatar.
Romanian Andrey Ionut Ionitsa is the best in violoncello.
No first award is given in the competition of violinists this year. The second award goes to Tseon Yucheniu from Taiwan, and the third award goes to Pavel Milyukov and Gaik Kazazyan from Russia, and Alexander Konunov from Moldova.
Gala concerts of winners will be held in the Big Conservatory Hall in Moscow on July 2 and on the new stage of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg on July 3.
