Bell Ringing Festival Comes to Irkutsk Region

 From July 10 to July 15 the Irkutsk Region will be hosting the famous bell ringing festival The Baikal Chime.

      More than 20 bell ringers from Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Tyumen, Tomsk, Omsk, Kemerovo, Barnaul, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Moscow and Minsk will take part in it.

      The festival of Siberian bell ringing art was annually held in various venues of the Novosibirsk Region for 10 years already. The Irkutsk Region will host it for the first time.

      The festival opening ceremony will take place in the Kazan Church of Irkutsk at 11 am on July 10. Bell ringing master classes and a round table will take place in the Bolshoye Goloustnoye village on July 11.

      The national bell ringing holiday will start in St. Nicholas Church on the bank of Lake Baikal at 2 pm. All the festival participants will perform on the bell tower of the Kazan Church of Irkutsk from 1 to 3 pm on Sunday, July 12.
